The government is granting a seven-month extension to the mandatory registration of elevators in the Digital Registry, moving the deadline to 30 June 2026. The decision, signed by Minister of Development Takis Theodorikakos and Minister of Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou, aims to provide additional time for property owners, building managers, and industry professionals to complete the required procedures.
According to the ministry, the number of registrations has increased significantly in recent weeks, with more than 250,000 elevators now recorded. This progress is attributed in part to the strengthened cooperation between the Ministry of Development, POMIDA, and the companies responsible for installing and maintaining elevators.
The registration process is described as “extremely simple,” requiring just 3–5 minutes, and is completely free via the platform elevator.mindev.gov.gr. The ministry also clarifies that submitting information to the digital system does not create any additional liabilities for citizens; rather, it serves as a tool to improve safety and the overall supervision of elevators nationwide.
The new extension is expected to ease pressure on the system in the coming months, facilitating the full registration of all elevators and ensuring a smooth transition to the digital monitoring model.
