The number of overnight stays in Airbnb accommodation in Cyprus in the first quarter of 2024 increased by double digits, according to data published by Eurostat.
Specifically, based on the official data provided to the Commission by the four major platforms, Airbnb, Booking, Expedia Group and TripAdvisor, a total of 760,403 overnight stays took place in short-term rentals in Cyprus in the quarter January – March.
This number is up by 24.1%, which is lower than the European average, which reached 28.3% this year. This is the weakest period for Cyprus, since last year, in the second quarter, overnight stays approached 1.4 million, while in the third quarter they exceeded 2.1 million.
and in Q2 they reached 1.2 million.
It is clear that Cyprus, despite the very good weather, has not established itself in the minds of the travelling public as a winter destination.
