A new era for tourism in North Tzoumerka begins with the establishment of a Destination Management and Promotion Organisation (DMO), following the approval of a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism.
The project is part of a wider ‘Destination Management’ initiative funded by the European Union’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan. The aim is to improve tourism management through the establishment of local and regional organisations that will act as observatories for sustainable tourism.
The establishment of the new DMO will contribute to the effective management of the region’s tourist destinations by promoting cooperation between local and state authorities.
The tourism potential of North Tzoumerka
The project provides for a thorough analysis of the tourism potential of the region, focusing on
– The available tourism resources, infrastructure and services
– The tourism demand, supply and competitiveness of the region.
– The positioning of North Tzoumerka in the national and international tourism market.
– The environmental, social and cultural aspects of the destination.
The Integrated Destination Management Plan will define the development and promotion strategies for the region, including
– The branding of North Tzoumerka as a tourist destination.
– The creation of specialised tourist experiences.
– The promotion of alternative tourism (ecotourism, agrotourism, walking tourism).
