Although it is not surprising that Cyprus as a holiday destination is increasingly attracting the attention of Poles, confirmation comes with the news that Polish airline LOT are resuming flights to Larnaca this winter.
Poland, with 38 million inhabitants, is showing it’s love for Cyprus, tourism to the country is gaining a good reputation in countries where it had not previously been.
It is no coincidence that Poland has now established itself as the third main market for Cypriot tourism behind only the United Kingdom and Israel.
Flights Resumed
As announced by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, LOT – the national carrier of Poland – already flies to Paphos airport but, from this winter season, it will also operate flights to Larnaca airport, after an absence of two years.
Flights will even begin with a frequency of four flights a week during the winter season, with plans to increase the frequency of flights to six flights a week in the summer season of 2025.
LOT airline currently fly three times a week to Paphos airport.
However, the “weakness” of the Poles for Cyprus is also evident from Ryanair’s flights.
Both airlines together operate 17 flights per week from six Polish airports to Paphos airport.
However, the weekly flights from Poland to Cyprus this summer are expected to rise to 50, with another 30 flights a week from seven airports in the country to Larnaca airport.
It is worth noting that last year there were 33 flights per week from Poland to Cyprus.
Cypriot tourism expects improvement
For LOT’s decision, Deputy Minister of Tourism Costas Koumis expressed satisfaction, stating that it is a positive development, as is the decision of each company to add each new route.
According to the Deputy Minister the new routes include Cyprus Airways from Barcelona, EasyJet from Amsterdam, Wizzair from Milan and Royal Jordanian from Amman. Wizzair have even increased its flight frequencies from 11 different airports and have announced new flight schedules in the last period.
The statistical office spoke
The reputation of Cypriot tourism to the Polish market is also evident from the data of the Statistical Office regarding tourist arrivals.
Last year 273,872 Poles visited Cyprus, compared to 186,000 in 2022, with visits from Poland accounting for 7.1% of all arrivals, which amounted to 3,845,652.
