83% of travelers are willing to pay more for accommodations that have a higher number of positive reviews, compared to similar properties with fewer or average ratings. This finding comes from Customer Alliance‘s annual 2025 survey titled “The ROI of Guest Review Management for Short-Term Rentals.”
The survey, among 600 English-speaking visitors from Germany, France, and Italy, answers crucial questions for accommodation managers, such as:
- What drives almost half of visitors to pay 5-10% more?
- What is the “review recency rule” that can exclude a short-term rental from 20% of bookings?
- How can managers influence 87% of booking decisions with just one practice?
- What is the key element that 73% of visitors look for in reviews?
- What is the minimum acceptable star rating for 80% of visitors?
- What truly motivates guests to leave a review – and which methods should be avoided?
Positive guest reviews shape prices
“Guests are no longer limited to reading reviews – they are willing to pay premium prices for
highly rated accommodations,” said Customer Alliance CEO Steffen Schmickler.
The full report includes detailed records of the survey results and offers practical suggestions for
