Around 67,000 accommodations, car rentals and taxis in Greece that work with Booking.com have received a Traveler Review Award for 2025. The awards are based on user reviews and are given for high levels of hospitality.
With this number of awards, Greece is among the top 10 countries in the world where Booking.com users have highlighted the best hospitality businesses.
Booking.com’s Traveler Review Awards 2025
For the eighth year in a row, Italy has the highest number of award recipients (207,730), followed by France (155,203), Spain (147,700), Germany (102), and the United States (70,259) in sixth place, followed by Poland (69,709), Brazil (67,876), Greece (66,994) and Croatia (56,648).
In total, 1.71 million of the platform’s travel partners in 212 countries and regions around the world received the award. This figure is a new record and includes 1,711,539 accommodation providers, 1,329 car rental companies and 124 taxi companies.
Apartments continue to be the most awarded accommodation type for the eighth consecutive year (847,627 awards).
Holiday homes (259,105 awards) remain in second place, beating capsule hotels (190,670 awards) for the third year running.
Capsule hotels originated in Japan and have been introduced to Europe by a number of companies. With white walls, neon lights, strange architectural shapes on the walls and capsule-shaped rooms measuring two metres long and one metre wide, they are unlikely to appeal to most travellers. There are no such hotels in Greece.
However, this category of hotels saw a 35% increase in awards year-on-year, the largest increase of any accommodation type, followed by villas (25%). Overall, awards for short-term rentals and other unique properties increased by 17%, “reflecting travellers’ continued enthusiasm for a variety of stays that offer distinctive hospitality and memorable experiences,” Booking.com notes.
Since 2010, Booking.com has facilitated more than 4.5 billion guest arrivals, including more than 1 billion in alternative or non-hotel accommodations. Today, travellers can choose from more than 30 types of accommodation, including everything from cosy cottages, funky city apartments and chic villas to charming B&Bs, spacious farmhouses and seaside bungalows. There are even boats, igloos and tree houses for the more adventurous traveller.
