The Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE) identified a total of 97 violations involving the failure to issue receipts in three short-term rental cases in Naxos, as part of tax inspections carried out at tourist destinations.
According to the Authority, the value of the receipts that were not issued amounted to €118,795.45. The prescribed fines were imposed for the violations.
AADE inspections at tourist destinations
The Naxos cases were among a series of AADE inspections targeting food service businesses, mini markets and rental accommodation establishments in Santorini and Naxos. The inspections also resulted in 48-hour business closures and fines for tax violations.
For property managers and businesses operating in the short-term rental sector, the findings specifically concerned the obligation to issue receipts for their transactions.
AADE said that inspections are continuing at popular tourist destinations, with the use of digital tools and data cross-checks to identify cases of tax evasion.
