Just two days after the European elections sent a message to all directions, and while the government is in the process of being reshuffled, the Prime Minister seems to be reconsidering the issue of restrictions on short-term rentals.
In an interview in Alpha and to Antonis Schroiter, he stated that he is considering if interventions should be made.
The prime minister said:
“We will look more effectively at issues that people have told us about. The issue of housing, the issue of, say, having a new My House programme. It’s a personal bet for me to find another significant amount of money to run a new “My House” program, like the first one, for many more young people, and we even said we would take it up to the age of 50, to get a home.
We’ll be looking at whether we need to intervene – we’re not ready to say that yet but we will be very soon – the question is whether we need to intervene in short-term rentals again to free up more homes to rent.”
Let’s remember that at the end of May, in another television interview, Kyriakos Mitsotakis had stated that the government is considering the possibility of imposing a time limit during the year on short-term rentals, mainly in Athens.
