A recent study by luxury holiday company CV Villas highlighted eight Greek beaches among the world’s top 30 that bring happiness to their visitors. The research utilized facial recognition technology to analyze thousands of Instagram photos, assessing tourists’ happiness levels.
Experts at CV Villas used AWS facial recognition software to analyze thousands of photos from over 100 beaches worldwide. Each image was evaluated based on emotion recognition technology to measure happiness levels. A final average score, with a maximum of 100, was then calculated to determine the overall happiness rating for each beach.
The happiest beach in the world
According to the results, Sitges Beach in Barcelona, Spain, ranked first with a score of 98.42, making it the world’s happiest beach.
The 8 greek beaches that stood out
Greece holds a prominent position on the list, with eight beaches ranking among the top 30:
- Elafonissi, Crete: Ranked 9th with a score of 93.34.
- Ai Helis Beach, Kefalonia: Secured the 10th position with 92.25 points.
- Moggonisi Beach, Paxos: Ranked 15th with a score of 88.92.
- Agios Georgios Pagon Beach, Corfu: Placed 17th with 88.92 points.
- Myrtos Beach, Kefalonia: Secured the 18th position with 87.82 points.
- Glyfada Beach, Corfu: Ranked 20th with a score of 85.29.
- Kalamitsi Beach, Lefkada: Placed 23rd with 84.64 points.
- Porto Katsiki, Lefkada: Secured the 30th spot with 80.46 points.
