The 2024/2025 travel season looks set to get off to a strong start, with the German market showing clear signs of increased holiday demand. According to Travel Data + Analytics, these four destinations together account for 60% of the German market’s bookings up to November 2024.
Positive demand outlook for 2025
The signals from the German tourism market are particularly encouraging. Pre-bookings for the 2025 summer season, but also for the following winter months, are showing remarkable growth. Total pre-bookings for 2025, starting in November 2024, show an increase of 18% compared to the same period in 2023.
Germans invest in travel despite challenges
Despite economic challenges and the energy crisis, Germans continue to invest in their travel, demonstrating that tourism remains a key priority. As an indication, travel bookings totalling €2 billion were recorded in November 2024, an increase of 9% compared to November 2023.
Greece among the top destinations
With 56% of November 2024 bookings for the 2025 summer season (May-September), Greece seems to maintain its popularity as a destination. Ideal weather conditions, cultural heritage, hospitality and quality services make the country a top choice for German travellers.
The 2024/2025 tourist year is expected to be dynamic, with Greece and other Mediterranean destinations benefiting significantly from the positive trend in the German market. Demand for travel is on the rise, confirming the importance of tourism as an integral part of Germans’ daily lives, even in difficult economic conditions.
