A few days ago, Milos won the hearts of hundreds of thousands of readers of the global travel magazine “Travel + Leisure”. American travel magazine Travel + Leisure has just published its lists of the World’s Best Awards for 2024 as voted for by readers.
The World’s best
More than 186,000 travellers and readers of the magazine took part in this year’s survey and voted for their favourite islands in the world, taking into account the activities, attractions, natural beauty, beaches, food and hospitality of the locals, among other things. Milos scored 93.08 points (with a perfect score of 100) from the readers of the magazine. As Travel+Leisure reports, the island of Milos has the whole package of pristine beaches, whitewashed houses and wonderful tavernas that you can find elsewhere in the Aegean, but with fewer crowds of tourists than famous islands like Santorini or Mykonos.
Why Milos?
“Milos was beautiful and much less crowded,” wrote one reader. “The food was great and there were lots of things to see and do. Everyone was very friendly and we loved it.” Another reader agreed about the excellent food and noted that despite it being a small island, Milos has “a variety of beaches to offer”.
Top 15
In the same vote, Crete came in 2nd place, Corfu and the Ionian Islands in 6th place, Paros in 10th place and Santorini in 15th place.
