Thessaloniki is set to become the meeting point for the short-term rental and alternative accommodation industry, hosting the Short Stay Thessaloniki Conference on 14 November 2026, as part of the international tourism exhibition Philoxenia – Hotelia, organized by HELEXPO.
The conference aims to become a new hub for professionals, organizations, and stakeholders from the short-term rental and alternative accommodation sector in Greece and the wider Balkan region.
Through a program focusing on the key trends and challenges shaping the market, the Short Stay Thessaloniki Conference will explore the role and future prospects of the sector within an increasingly changing tourism landscape.
The discussions will address critical topics including the evolution of short-term rentals, emerging trends in hospitality, regulatory developments, technology and artificial intelligence, as well as the opportunities created for professionals and local communities.
At the same time, the conference will highlight the broader economic and social impact of the sector, examining how short-term rentals and alternative accommodation contribute to strengthening local economies, creating new business opportunities, and promoting destinations beyond traditional tourism hotspots.
Special emphasis will be placed on the contribution of the sector to the diversification and enhancement of Greece’s tourism product, as well as to the decentralization of tourism flows. The growth of new accommodation models can act as a catalyst for promoting lesser-known destinations, spreading the benefits of tourism to more regions across Greece and Southeastern Europe.
The organization of the conference in Thessaloniki carries particular significance, as the city is one of the most important tourism and business hubs in Southeastern Europe and a natural meeting point for the Balkan markets.
The Short Stay Thessaloniki Conference is addressed to short-term rental owners and property managers, hospitality professionals, property management companies, technology providers, tourism stakeholders, institutional representatives, local authorities, and everyone interested in the future of modern hospitality.
Participation in the conference is free of charge for visitors of the Philoxenia – Hotelia exhibition.
Registration is required to attend the conference.
