The implementation of the mandatory payment of rents through a bank account has been postponed to July 1, 2027, according to AADE Decision A.1187/16-09-2026.
The postponement concerns paragraph 1 of Article 129 of Law 5264/2025 and changes the implementation timeline of the relevant regulation for payments arising from property rentals.
With the decision, AADE gives citizens additional time to adapt before the obligation comes into effect. At the same time, the postponement is linked to the implementation of a comprehensive data-matching system with payment service providers.
What the postponement means for landlords
Property owners and other landlords who will be subject to the regulation now have a new starting date of July 1, 2027 for the payment of rents through a bank account.
The decision concerns the tax and evidentiary management of payments related to property rentals. As stated in the current announcement, it does not introduce any additional procedures or new deadlines beyond the postponement of the effective date.
