{"id":40511,"date":"2026-07-09T12:03:35","date_gmt":"2026-07-09T09:03:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/bnbnews.gr\/?p=40511"},"modified":"2026-07-08T20:04:16","modified_gmt":"2026-07-08T17:04:16","slug":"uk-local-authorities-short-term-rentals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bnbnews.gr\/en\/legislation\/40511\/uk-local-authorities-short-term-rentals\/","title":{"rendered":"United Kingdom: Local authorities could decide on short-term rentals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <strong>British governmen<\/strong>t is considering granting more powers to local authorities for the management of short-term rentals and second homes, in an effort to address the pressures placed on local housing markets and increase housing availability for <strong>permanent<\/strong> residents.<\/p>\n<p>The Housing Minister, <strong>Matthew Pennycook<\/strong>, confirmed the plans while responding to a relevant parliamentary question, stressing that the government is examining the possibility of providing additional powers to <strong>local authorities<\/strong> so they can more effectively address the impact caused by short-term rentals and second homes on local property markets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are looking at what additional powers we can give to local authorities, so that they can <strong>respond<\/strong> to the pressures created by short-term rentals and second homes,\u201d the minister stated.<\/p>\n<p>The government has already proceeded with a series of measures aimed at<strong> limiting the phenomenon<\/strong>.
