Airbnb continues its strategy of expanding beyond traditional accommodations, focusing on new services and experiences that are gaining traction \u2014 even among users who have never booked through the platform before.<\/p>\n

According to the company\u2019s Q3 2025 results, nearly half of all Airbnb Experiences bookings were not tied to a stay on the platform. At the same time, around 10% of users who booked services had never used Airbnb before, as co-founder and CEO Brian Chesky noted during the earnings presentation.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe these additions are bringing a new audience to Airbnb,\u201d Chesky said. \u201cEven if someone doesn\u2019t intend to book a home, services and experiences can bring them back to the platform and eventually lead them to a stay.\u201d<\/p>\n

Growing local interest in \u201cAirbnb Originals\u201d<\/h2>\n

\"Airbnb<\/a>Although the new offerings were primarily designed for travelers, Airbnb is seeing growing interest from residents in the same cities.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn Paris, 70% of Airbnb Originals \u2014 unique experiences offered exclusively through the platform \u2014 are booked by locals,\u201d Chesky said. \u201cWe believe we\u2019ve found a product that successfully appeals to people living in the same city.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite the positive momentum, Chesky acknowledged that the \u201cservices\u201d and \u201cexperiences\u201d categories are still in their early stages:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt will take three to five years before they become a meaningful part of our revenue, but I\u2019m extremely optimistic.\u201d<\/p>\n

A cautious approach to Artificial Intelligence<\/h2>\n

The Airbnb CEO was also asked about the company\u2019s relationship with OpenAI\u2019s ChatGPT, as Airbnb was not among the platform\u2019s initial partners.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe simply felt the integration wasn\u2019t ready yet,\u201d he explained. \u201cWe don\u2019t want to appear as a \u2018database\u2019 behind another product.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chesky clarified that Airbnb remains open to future collaboration, provided that any integration would be \u201cpersonalized and high-quality.\u201d<\/p>\n

At the same time, the company is investing internally in artificial intelligence, with \u201cmore than a dozen active AI projects\u201d already underway, aiming to deliver a more personalized experience for both guests and hosts.<\/p>\n

Pilot integration of hotels in restricted markets<\/h3>\n

Following September\u2019s announcement introducing hotels as a new type of accommodation in the app, Airbnb is now piloting the model in Los Angeles, New York, and Madrid \u2014 cities where short-term rental regulations are particularly strict.<\/p>\n

\u201cHotels are excited to participate,\u201d Chesky said, emphasizing that this new segment complements the platform\u2019s core model.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe don\u2019t see significant cannibalization between homes and hotels \u2014 they serve different needs and audiences. Hotels help us fill supply gaps in restricted markets.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also revealed that onboarding hotels has proven to be easier than adding new homes, while growth in this segment is considered more efficient and faster.<\/p>\n

Q3 2025 Financial Results<\/h3>\n

Airbnb reported revenues of $4.1 billion<\/strong>, up 10% year-over-year<\/strong>, driven by increases in both nights booked and average daily rates.
Net income reached $1.4 billion<\/strong>, maintaining last year\u2019s level with a 34% margin<\/strong>.
Adjusted EBITDA exceeded $2 billion<\/strong> \u2014 the highest in the company\u2019s history \u2014 while sales and marketing expenses rose to $639 million<\/strong>, from $514 million<\/strong> a year earlier.<\/p>\n

Nights and experiences booked increased by 9% year-over-year<\/strong>, reaching 133.6 million<\/strong>, while gross booking value<\/strong> climbed to $22.9 billion (+14%)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
