Cyprus recorded a significant rise in overnight stays in short-term rentals during the second quarter of 2025, according to data published by Eurostat. Specifically, the country saw a 29% increase compared to the same period in 2024, ranking third among European Union member states.<\/p>\n
Only Malta, with the highest increase in the EU (+36%), and Slovakia (+29.1%) surpassed Cyprus.<\/p>\n
In the first quarter of 2025, the growth had been limited to 8.4%.<\/p>\n
Eurostat data show that Greece recorded 13.4 million overnight stays in short-term rental accommodations, up 17.7% compared to 2024 (11.38 million) and 42.7% compared to 2023 (9.39 million).
\nBreaking down the second quarter by month: there were 2.6 million overnight stays in April, 3.66 million in May, and 7 million in June.<\/p>\n
Across the EU, a total of 245.9 million overnight stays were recorded through platforms such as Airbnb, Booking, and Expedia between April and June 2025. This represents an annual increase of 17.8% and a rise of 36.8% compared to the second quarter of 2023.<\/p>\n
Eurostat emphasized that, unlike in the first quarter, all EU countries recorded growth in the second quarter, with strong performances not only in smaller markets but also in major tourist destinations.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, during the first quarter of 2025, the most popular regions for short-term rentals were the Canary Islands (8.8 million overnight stays), Rh\u00f4ne-Alpes (8.1 million), and Andalusia (7.7 million).
\nAmong the top 20 regions, five were in Spain and five in France, three in Italy, two in Austria and Portugal, and one each in Hungary, Poland, and Greece.<\/p>\n
