More and more holiday makers are adopting the mantra “You only live once” when it comes to booking luxury vacations for 2025.
This was revealed by Google executive Ailish English in a presentation of the latest vacation trends based on Google searches, presented at the Jet2holiday annual conference, which took place in Paphos, Cyprus.
Luxury vacations as an experience
Google search data, shows that in the next six months the most popular vacations will be city and beach. However, what is different is that searches predispose that in 2025 consumers will focus their interest on the real luxury experience.
“They’re looking for hot tubs, they’re looking for spas, Michelin-starred restaurants and five-star accommodations,” said Ailish English, adding that travelers “are looking for the best experience they can get for the money they’re able to spend. They really want to feel like they’re on a luxury vacation.”
She explained that while travelers are increasingly looking for value for their vacations, that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re just looking for the cheapest deal. It’s absolutely clear that every traveler is looking for the best within their budget.
The Google executive shared an optimistic outlook for 2025, predicting a “huge boost in tourism across Europe.” She said, “We expect about a 37% increase in holiday spending between now and 2027, which will be very significant for everyone in tourism.”
What could go wrong
There’s always a level of unpredictability, she said: “There’s the threat of economic uncertainty, political instability and conflict, extreme weather and labour strikes.”
She encouraged travel agents attending the conference to “use their content and social media” to share “compelling messages” with their customers all year round, not just during peak periods, so that even if their customer doesn’t plan to choose and pay for their holiday right away, they’ll be more likely to come back to that agent when they decide to.
