Guesty has completed the acquisition of French property management and channel manager platform Smily, strengthening its position in the French short-term rental market.
According to the company, following the agreement, the product development, technology, and customer support teams of the two companies will be integrated into a single platform tailored to the French market. The goal is also to accelerate product development and give Smily customers access to Guesty’s artificial intelligence capabilities, including Agent Hub.
The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Guesty also said that all five Smily founders, along with a group of shareholders, are reinvesting part of the proceeds in Guesty shares.
The importance of the French market
Guesty says that France is the second largest short-term rental market worldwide, with $9 billion in gross booking value generated through online travel agencies (OTAs) over the past year. Based on this statement, the acquisition is directly linked to further strengthening the company’s presence in the country.
Guesty Co-Founder and CEO, Amiad Soto, said that Smily has earned the trust of local property managers for more than 15 years and that its integration into Guesty supports this relationship of trust. He also added that Guesty has delivered more than 300 new features in 2026, many of which have come from customer requests.
For his part, Smily Founder and CEO, Sébastien Grosjean, said that his company has processed €3.3 billion in bookings for 13 million travelers since 2010 and that the best option, given the pace of technological development in the industry, is to transfer Smily’s team and knowledge to Guesty.
What it means for professionals
For property managers in France, the key point of the announcement is that Guesty intends to operate Smily on a shared platform, although no timeline has been provided so far for when the integration will be fully completed. The company links the move to the integration of AI tools and more locally tailored support.
The agreement places Smily within Guesty’s international portfolio, while the reinvestment by founders and shareholders indicates that part of the previous team will retain a financial stake in the company’s next phase.
